MAKE
The project brief comprised the design and construction of a two-storey front residential extension to the main house and exterior summer house in the back garden. Throughout the conceptual development of the project, MCL has collaborated with the client to translate ideas into an architectural reality.
CREATE
Conceptual development led the design towards the study of organic, free-flowing forms. These forms directly juxtapose the existing building, creating a distinct blend of traditional and contemporary architectural aesthetics. For the summerhouse, we explored the incorporation of fractal patterns to harness biophilic merits within architectural design. In addition, the proposal explores user customisation, blurred interior-exterior boundaries, and optimal functionality.
LIVE
The proposal enhances the client's everyday living. The two-storey extension provides additional living and working space whilst generating a distinctly contemporary aesthetic. The summerhouse offers the clients an optimal retreat to reside, relax, and reflect.
